The Best Podcast Episodes of 2022

As 2022 comes to an end (hooray), I wanted to look back on (some of) the best episodes of 2022. The past year has given us some incredible episodes from all different genres and across the world. By no means is this the perfect list, but I hope that you will agree with, or/and listen back to some of these picks. I haven't ranked them from top to bottom, but just tried to select a few favourites. Thanks to the small group of people who helped me collate the list (you know who you are 🤗)! FYI, click the title to link to the episode 😎

Lastly, did I miss one? If you think so, please recommend an episode below:

Steven Bartlett has built one of the best podcasts out there. He manages to keep each interview personal and conversational whilst really getting into tricky, emotional, and interesting topics. One this episode, Whitney Wolfe Herd tells the story of how she left Tinder to start Bumble and all the barriers she faced.

Melvyn Bragg and guests discuss the ideas, people and events that have shaped our world. This episode looks back at the astonishing work of Michelangelo (1477-1564) in this great chapel in the Vatican.

This episode goes deep into the life of Luis von Ahn, current CEO and Co-Founder of Duolingo. The cover loads of brilliant topics such as; How to Be (Truly) Mission-Driven, Monetization Experiments, The Intricate Path to an IPO, Best Hiring Practices, The Future of Duolingo, and How to Stand Out in Your Career.

I had to put this on the list because the podcast was brilliant and we reached the finale in these final episodes (Elizabeth and Sunny sentencing).

Similar to the above, the news of Adnan Syed being released was just so big (especially for those who listened to the Serial season).

Jamie Laing and Sophie Haboo cover all the bases on their journey to their wedding. The episodes are often hilarious, especially this one where they discuss the stag. What is going to happen? Where is he going to go? All these questions are up in the air but Sophie has her own ideas of what she wants to do and it looks like Jamie doesn't have much of a choice...

The Q Shaman, the man with the furs and horns who stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021, is in jail. The movement he came to symbolise appears defeated. But is it all over?

Elizabeth Banks joins Alex Cooper to share wine, wisdom, and laughter. I particularly like the point where they discuss normalising not always knowing what you want in like - and provide advice to those who may be stuggling. The podcast is only avaliable on Spotify, but as a top podcast it has cool features in app like Q&A, pinned replies, and polls.

Probably my favourite podcast, although definitely not for every. Sometimes it can be hit or miss but this podcast episode really did hit. They discuss the top topics of that moment (Ligma Johnson, macro trends, AlphaFold), with my favourite being their analysis of the recent tech layoffs.

This podcast features arguably the most famous activist on the planet. It is a refreshingly relaxed conversation. They talk about the climate crisis (ofcourse), about what drives this extraordinary young woman and what she thinks of 'failure' on a personal and a global level.

Thanks for reading throughout 2022, I appreciate all the support, messages, and recommendations (+hopefully thanks for listening!) ✌🏼 😁😁😁
