#28 true crime, history, and news

the greatest espionage operations, a crime thriller in Texas, and valuable lessons

True Spies

This is a good podcast that takes you inside the world's greatest espionage and detective operations. I've recently been listening to the current series on Osama Bin Laden. It goes in-depth on his origins, methods, and motivations. It is really interesting and I also recommend you look into the other episodes.

Devil Town

Dark, scary, and gripping. Devil Town is a podcast about how the small town of Gilmer, Texas is gripped when the search for missing teenager Kelly Wilson takes a series of bizarre and shocking turns. The podcast is narrated by journalist Wes Ferguson who returns to Gilmer, 30 years later, to discover what really happened to Kelly.

Cautionary Tales

Tim Harford (Financial Times, BBC) brings you stories of awful human error, tragic catastrophes, and hilarious fiascos. They'll delight you, scare you, but also make you wiser.

I'm sure you've heard about the FTX / Sam Bankman-Fried news this week (I think he is now in Argentina?)... There has been some great coverage helping to explain and cover the recent events. Scott and Kara discuss it in Pivot (with a great explanation), The Dive tells you what you need to know, and Casey and Kevin talk about what this means for crypto.
