#25 tv & film, history, and society & culture

Behind the best documentaries, the crack-smoking mayor, and strangers on a train.

The Dangerous Art of the Documentary

A really interesting podcast from Tiller Russel (Filmmaker) who interviews the creators/directors of some of the most fascinating documentaries of our time. Think... Senna, Amy, Wild Wild Country, and Don’t F**k with Cats. Definitely worth a listen and there will be more episodes coming out.

The Gravy Train

This week I wanted to recommendation an older podcast (released in 2019) but such a good podcast. Do you remember Rob Ford, the crack-smoking mayor of Toronto? This podcast dives into his tragic life and the legacy left behind.

Alexei Sayle’s Strangers on a Train

Actor Alexei Sayle interviews people across the UK travelling by train (literally). Discussions range from where they are going, what they are doing, to recalling historical events and even current news/pop culture. It is a great one to listen to in the background as it flows well and you can drop in and out! Definitely recommend you give it a listen... although unfortunately it’s only on BBC Sounds (😠).
